“Invest in Falkirk & Grangemouth” – If you didn’t sign up for Falkirk & Grangemouth Innovation Zone conference on 15/1 at the Inchyra Hotel, then you missed out! With so much content and great speakers, it’s a difficult to talk about so much in a few hundred words, so a few “high points” for me!…
“Work, Rest and Play” – a tagline for a well-known chocolate bar but resonant across the Forth Valley and how “Mutualism” and “Sustainable Community” can support regional delivery – with a focus on “Quality” (Education, Jobs, Housing, Transport), the presentation from Stenhousemuir FC Director & Ex-Chair, David Reid was certainly a call to action.
The £900M+ contribution that Forth Ports makes to the region and the UK as a whole came through strongly from COO, Stuart Wallace and how identifying new or emerging markets (e.g. offshore wind, decommissioning) can have a transformative effect on Business.
Leonard Russell of Ian Macleod Distillers spoke of how their investment would bring new life to the Rosebank Distillery in Camelon. Silent for 25 years, Rosebank by the Forth – Clyde canal midway between the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies – each outlined by Catherine Topley as testament to booming tourism across the region and the growth of the canal as a leisure interest for many.
In short, a great morning out with the chance to meet colleagues old and new! 511 Innovation is looking forwards to further events with the council and Invest Falkirk.
